چکیده:

In this research, effect of hot extrusion process on tensile properties and fracture mechanism of Al/SiC composites was investigated. The composite ingots were fabricated by stir casting and were extruded at 500?C at a ram speed of 1mm/s and at the extrusion ratio of 18:1. The extruded samples exhibited improved mechanical properties in comparison with the as-cast ones. The as-cast specimens comprised of cracking of the SiC particle clusters leading to brittle fracture, whereas the extruded samples showed some ductility
