چکیده:

Zeolites are generally synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of sodium aluminosilicate gels prepared
from pure chemicals in alkaline medium using conventional heating systems. Kaolin is a convenient Si–Al
source for synthesizing low silica zeolites such as A, X and Y. The present paper describes a process for
synthesis of kaolin based zeolite Y. The kaolin used in this synthesis is from kaolin Shargh Co. , Iran.
Three steps are involved in the reaction: 1)convertion kaolin to metakaolin. 2) The metakaolin was activated
by the addition of sodium hydroxide at 550 °C for 3 h. 3)activated sample crushed into the powder with
diamer of less than 230 μm.4) Then result powder was separately mixed with calculated amount of NaOH
solution and sodium silicate .5)under Hydrothermal condition, the reaction mixture can yield zeolite NaY.
