چکیده:

The paper describes the design and implementation of a prototype alarm processing and fault diagnosis expert system for a twelve pulse HVDC link. The proposed system is called HAPP ( HVDC alarm processing program ) and is written in prolog.
This paper explains the processes enveloped to analyse various information received from different parts of HVDC system such as breakers , converters , invertors , etc.. The developed expert system identifies important and vital alarms and diagnoses the inherent faults. It also highlights the misoperated equipment and point out any lack of coordination among various protective instruments. The developed expert system has been tested on a sample HVDC system and results which show is usefulness and capabilities to cope with emergency situations are presented.
