چکیده:

The population balance model has a key role in prediction of particle size distribution in multiphase fluid flow with dispersed phase. Accurate solution of the equations of motion in bubble columns and proper design of a liquid-liquid extraction column without considering a PBM is not achievable. During last 50 years different techniques have been proposed to solve this model. In the early stages these techniques were just analytical solutions for very simplified cases. Nowadays, complicated numerical methods using powerful processors are developed and reported in the literature. This paper is aimed to introduce almost all methods and techniques of solving a PBM for the first time. We have tried to cite as many literatures as possible in accordance with such techniques and to describe every method in brief.
