چکیده:

Adequate supply of energy at a reasonable price is fundamental to technological development which in turn is the key to economic prosperity of a nation. It can be said without exception that all the prosperous and industrially developed nations of today consume more energy per person than that of developing and less industrialized nations. Rapid industrialization is seen as the economic road to prosperity and this fact has been
demonstrated in recent decades by a number of Asian nations such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan and so on. Iran, on her part, is rapidly industrializing and therefore energy consumption is likely to increase at a high rate. In order to meet the expected demand, both short and long term energy policies should be formulated and proper course of action taken.
Electricity is the most convenient form of energy that is suitable for modern technological devices, and hence for industrialization. In Iran, electricity supply is already strained in some areas which will be more so unless its production is stepped up. In formulating short and long term policies, energy resources of the country are examined for electricity production. Energy conversion techniques such as thermal, hydroelectric,nuclear etc are also examined together with manpower and technical skills needed for the energy conversion technology.
