چکیده:

Attempts were made to isolate Streptomyces coelicolor producing actinorhodin by sampling from dessert soils. Subsequently, enrichment, isolation and preparation of pure cultures were performed. Although the appearance of isolated bacteria was similar to Streptomyces coelicolor, none of them produced actinorhodin, the blue-pigmented antibiotic. Therefore, Streptomyces coelicolor A(3) obtained from Isfahan University was cultivated. Using Hobbs’ medium a maximum of 6.8 mg/l actinorhodin was produced. By manipulating nitrate and phosphate concentration of medium, actinorhodin production reached to 75.13 mg/l.
