چکیده:

This paper presents a new method for active control of reinforced concrete (R/C) structures against seismic excitations. An important aspect of the research work presented is the extension of the control process into the inelastic range of deformations. This necessitated the stiffness matrix K to be a time-dependent function.Furthermore, a rotational spring was created at the ends of each element to introduce inelasticity. Hysteretic behavior was modeled following the rules proposed by Takeda. The effects of instantaneous optimal control algorithms were investigated on structural response. Numerical examples were solved to illustrate the application of the new active control procedure to R/C frame structures
