چکیده:

The development of Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) Engines is an important worldwide initiative of the automotive industry. In this type of Enginesgasoline is injected directly in the Engine, therefore, the processes of fuel injection, spray atomization and combustion of fuel are considered as the significant issues which are all being actively researched. In this work the flow field and spray in a cylinder is studied by means of numerical
modeling.
In the present study a base Engine has been chosen. Its geometry was modeled and its main characteristics were investigated. The results were compared with the experimental available data. After validation of the model necessary precautions and design considerations were undertaken to obtain an Engine geometrically suitable for direct injection. Using a commercial CFD solver, spray behavior was studied.
