In the clinical interpretation, age is one of the important factor affecting the BAEPwaveform and it can change the value of latencies and inter peak latencies among differentage groups. In this study the authors defined the changes for mean absolute latencies, interpeak latencies and standard deviation of each related BAEP waveform components for 32normal adult subjects in age groups of <19, <29, <39 and >50. The resulted variations in peaklatencies of waves I, III and V between the youngest and oldest groups in ipsilateral andconteralateral ears shows a shorter values in conteralateral ears than the ipsilateral in all agegroups. Whereas the corresponding values in inter peak latencies for all age groups are inreverse. The calculated values from both ears of two ages shows the differences achieved arenot very much prolonged and can be negligible. The resulted datas are compared withprevious reports and can be helpful in BAEP waveform interpretation by neurophysiologist.
