This paper deals with the vibration analysis of a piezoelectric coupled moderately thick circular FGM plate based on Mindlin platetheory. The distribution of electric potential along the thickness direction is simulated by a sinusoidal function so that the Maxwell static electricity equation is satisfied. The differential equations of motion are solved analytically for simply supported and clamped boundary conditions. Comparisons are first made with the available literature to reveal the excellent accuracy of the present analytical solution. Then, the effect of piezoelectric layer, gradient index, radius to thickness ratio and boundary conditions on the natural frequencies of smart circular FGM plates is comprehensively investigated.
