The nickel electroless composite coatings with SiC particles are very useful because of their great tnbological properties. The aim of this research was to study the effects of SiC particles at different concentrations on the corrosion resistance of nickel e1ectroless coatings. The electroless bath was prepared by different particle sizes of SiC coated on steel substrate. Corrosion resistance has been determined. by using potentiostatic polarization method. The samples were subjected to metallographic examinations using SEM and EDX techniques. The results were compared with Ni-P electroless coating. They revealed that increasing SiC particles could decrease corrosion resistance of these coatings. Also, increasing SiC concentration could increase corrosion rate due to the formation of galvanic cells. Decreasing SiC particles could increase volume percentage of SiC particles in coating and. making more available galvanic sites.
