During forming most sheet metal elements undergo a complicated deformation process. Therefore, the total strain method will not predict springback accurately because of the Bauschinger effect. In this paper, the finite element analysis was carried out in the L-bending process on four different steel and aluminum sheet metal to investigate the influence of the Bauschinger effect and major process parameters on springback. It can be concluded that the influence of the Bauschinger effect on springback is more significant for aluminum. Simulation is done with ANSYScode and the accuracy of the model is verified by comparison between the numerical and experimental results.
