چکیده:

The main purpose of this study is to assess and evaluate the knowledge and preparedness of the Iranian children and young adults for earthquakes. The sample group consists of 117 students who attended the 3rd Drawing Exhibition on “Earthquake and Safety” in Tehran in Oct 20011.In addition to undertaking pilot research work2, the children’s knowledge of earthquakes, their experience about the hazard and the effects of the educational materials in their textbooks were also assessed. The extent of the transferability of the earthquake knowledge to their parents, the degree of discussions between children and the parents and their preparedness were also evaluated.
