In this paper, the influence of wave-in-deck load on the reliability of jacket type offshore platform is investigated . The APIRP2A and Kaplan’s models are considered. It is show that the API RP2A wave load model may offer a much smaller wave-in-deck load compared to Kaplan’s model. It is concluded that the reliability index of the jacket system may very significantly with the inclusion of the wave-in-deck forces. It is also shown that the influence of the wave-in-deck load model may be less profound in comparison to the choice of wave-in-deck and variation of air-gap itself.
