Attitude dynamics and control of a slewing flexible structure as a clamped-free-free-free rectangular elastic plate are presented. It is assumed that, the structure undergo large rigid body motion and small elastic deformations. The exact model is derived using Hamilton’s principle. The dynamics model of the system includes a set of integral, partial and ordinary differential equations. The finite-dimensional modal model of the distributed parameter system is obtained on the basis of the truncated eigenfunction expansion. For attitude maneuver and simultaneously vibration suppression, a simple control law is proposed on the basis of the frequency-shaped regulator problem. To suppress the spillover effects, the controller with law pass property is constructed. Numerical simulations show the capabilities of the proposed approaches.
