Silver nanoparticles (nano-Ag) are potent and broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents. In the current study, simple preparation of silver nanoparticles (average diameter: 72 nm) was reported via wet chemical synthesis method. Kappa-carrageenan (kC), a hydrophilic biopolymer with sulphate groups on its backbone, acts as both stabilizer nanoparticles and in situ reducing agent in the reaction medium. Silver nanoparticles formation were confirmed by SEM images, DLS data, FTIR spectroscopy and GPC analysis.
