چکیده:

Calculation of the excitation capacitance of a self-excited induction generator maintain a predefined terminal voltage under different loads is very important in machine prediction and automatic voltage regulator design. In order to evaluate this capacitance, two non – linear equations, derived using the single – phase steady – state equivalent circuit of induction generator, must be solved simultaneously. A general analysis program for self – excited induction generator is developed to find the values of Xm, F and generated phase voltage Vph under different conditions. Then by the use of a curve fitting technique the mathematical forms of Vph and Re against Xn are determined.
This is necessary in order to speed up the calculation and to avoid frequently reference to stored data. Solving the two obtained non-linear equations numerically, involves guessing the initial values of excitation capacitance and the per – unit frequency, which may cause converging problems under some circumstances. This presents a better and more accurate way to compute the value of excitation capacitance taking into
account the core losses and saturation in the equivalent circuit of the induction generator.
