Method & Materials: During a parasitological study 109 specimen of Capoeta damascina of the Halil-Rud River were examined in Kerman province
from Oct. 2007 to Sep. 2008. The fishes were collected from 4 stations and transported to the aquatic research laboratory in Biological Sciences Faculty of Shahid Beheshti University. Then they identified and examined for parasitic infections.
Results & Conclusion: According to the results seven different Myxobolus spp. were detected. They are as follows: Myxobolus samgoricus, M. cristatus, M. varicorhin, M. musajevi, M. karelicus, M. buckei and M. suturalis .From one to the forth were recorded from different part of Iran before, but M. karelicus, M. buckei and M. suturalis are the first recorded. During this research Capoeata damascina is introduced as a new host for M. musajevi, M. karelicus, M. buckei and M. suturalis. Geographical distribution of Myxobolus in different ecosystem must be considered for fish culture system. This study revealed more Myxobolus species from different hosts in Oriental Faunal Region of Iran; new hosts and new locality record.
