چکیده:

This paper describes a study conducted on a contaminated site in Iran affected by high concentrations of organic solvents, heavy hydrocarbons and metals. Site characteristic, chemical analysis and laboratory experiments are carried out in order to identify and investigate the treatment approaches that are applicable and economical for the site. Results show that bioremediation methods, Soil vapor extraction, soil flushing, groundwater pump-and-treat and thermal remediation methods can not be used as a practical and applicable remediation approach for the site. However chemical oxidation using KMnO4 considerably reduces the pollution in laboratory experiments.
