چکیده:

Chromium compounds are widely used by modern industries, resulting in large quantities of this element being discharged into the environment. Some of the main uses for chromium compounds are as follows: plastic coating of surfaces for water and oil resistance, electroplating of metal for corrosion resistance, leather tanning, in pigments and for wood preservative [1]. Chromium occurs in wastewaters resulting from these operations in both trivalent [Cr (III)] and hexavalent [Cr (VI)] forms. Various methods adopted for the removal of heavy metals from industrial effluents include chemical precipitation, membrane separation, ion exchange and adsorption. Adsorption of toxic species on solid surfaces is considered to be an effective method for improving the environment [2-5]. Functionalized mesoporous carbon with excellent Cr (VI) adsorption performance especially at low concentrations was prepared by wet impregnation method. Adsorption of Cr (VI) over various porous adsorbents such as CMK-1and Fe-CMK-1 was studied.
