In this paper, a numerical model is proposed to simulate the oil spill spreading on the coastal water. The developed model consists of a hydrodynamic model and an oil spill model. The two-dimensional (integrated over the water depth) shollow water hydrodynamic equations incorporating the proper boundary conditions and initial tidal condition are formulated as the hydrodynamicmodel. The oil spill model which accounting for physical spreading process(including the mechanical spreading, wind and current drift),evaporation, dissolution, and irregular shoreline cinditions .The Lagrangian disrete parcel algorithm is employed to make the calculation, on oil slick transport be efficient and fast. Oil slick transport on the western coast watewrs of Taiwan for cases of different tides and wind speeds are simulated and investigated. Simulation of the oil spill accidents occurred on the coastal waters & km from the Kaohsiung harbor on the morning of August 10,1996 were studied. The present simulation results of the oil spreading on the coastal waters are rather good in comparison with the satellite image.
