چکیده:

An extremely large current flows through power electric equipments under a fault condition. As the equipments are designed and manufactured to withstand this current, their costs and dimensions can be reduced by use of fault current limiter (FCL).
In this paper, the authors present two kind of circuits which are recently used in the fault-current limiter devices. The behaviour of these circuits are studied and simulated by the ATP software. For application of fault current limiter in a 20KV distribution system, simulation is done and the
obtained results are compared and some ideas are proposed for designing and making of this kind of FCL.
