Generating of meshless shape functions is usually a time consuming and complicated task in the meshless methods. The parametric meshless Galerkin method (PMGM), which has emerged recently, enhances the meshless computations by incorporating meshless shape functions which are mapped from the parametric space to the physical space. Therefore the computational time needed for generating meshless shape functions is saved. In this paper, the PMGM with some new features is utilized to evaluate the stress field around the crack tip. The stress field in the vicinity of the crack tip which has been obtained from the PMGM method is in good agreement with the analytical method results, and a significant computational time saving of 16% has been achieved comparing with the traditional meshless approaches.
