Many active faults affect Central Alborz, most of which are parallel to range and accommodate the present day oblique convergence across the mountain belt. There is a highly populated region between eastern-western parts of Alborz that and surrounded by a set of strong active faults. Tehran. the capital of Iran, with millions of inhabitants is located near the foothills of the central Alborz.Several active faults have been surrounding Tehran. This region has been affected several times by great earthquakes which confirm theimportance of assessing seismic hazard of it. Deterministic seismic hazard assessment may be considered as a time-independent and conservative estimation of seismic hazard. We have employed this method to evaluate the seismic hazard for the city of Tehran.
