چکیده:

The issue of airport noise pollution has paramount importance to the community in vicinity of airports. Realizing the noise impacts, the purpose of this paper is to provide guidance material on land-use planning in vicinity of airport.Airport planning must be recognized as an integral part of wide area comprehensive planning program. The location and configuration of the airport needs to be compatible with patterns of residential, industrial, commercial and other land uses of area, taking into account the effects of airport noise pollution on people.Mehrabad International Airport (MIA)imposes noise impacts on neighboring communities. Therefore, this airport was chosen as a proper case study for the purpose of land use and noise pollution.The integrated Noise Model (INM) developed by Federal Aviation Administration was used for this project. INM is a computer model used to develop Noise Exposure Maps (NEMs), to determine noise impacted areas.Based on the outputs of the INM using the physical and operatioanl characteristics of MIA, 70 percent of land use in the vicinity of airport are not compatible with the internationally accepted noise levels.
