The classical Eulerian and Lagrangian formulations each has its advantages and drawbacks. Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation is a generalized method to combine at best the interesting aspects of each formulation while minimizing their drawbacks. In this paper an implicit time-stepping approach is used in deriving the governing ALE equation from virtual velocity equations from the basic principles of continuum mechanics. Then galerkin method has been used to discretize the continuity equation. The combination of continuity and virtual velocity (momentum) equations could be used to solve the jet impingement flow for velocity and pressure.
