چکیده:

Microzonation study is performed in order to obtain ground motion parameters such as accelerations and amplification factors at the surface of KL city center. The soil dynamic properties required in the analysis were obtained by converting static parameters from field tests to soil dynamic properties using empirical formulas. Ground response analyses were performed using one dimensional shear wave propagation
method. The nonlinear approach was used in the analysis in order to consider the actual nonlinear response of soil deposits. The results show the accelerations at the surface of KL city center are in the range of 90 to 190 gals and 180 to 340 gals for 500 and 2,500 years return periods, respectively. The amplification factors for those two hazard levels range between 1.2 and 2.6. Generally, the accelerations and amplifications factors decrease from the west to the east side of KL city center. Four microzonation maps were produced in this research that can be used as input for seismic design, land use management, and estimation of potential liquefaction and landslides.
