A multi-band diamond shaped Sierpinski gasket monopole antenna for designing a multi-band dual polarized array is described. Recently a wideband dual polarized array consists of printed diamond dipoles has been presented. The radiation pattern of the array degrades at high frequencies. The performance of the array element, diamond dipole, plays a key role in this degradation. In this paper several cutouts based on the Sierpinski gasket geometry are made in the diamond plane monopole antenna in order to improve the radiation pattern of the antenna. It is shown that a multi-band diamond shaped Sierpinski gasket monopole antenna with a significant improved radiation pattern can be achieved by making the cutouts in the diamond plane monopole antenna. The results of this investigation can be used to fabricate a multi-band dual polarized array consists of printed diamond shaped Sierpinski gasket dipoles.
