Discrete event systems (DES) are dynamic systems whose transition in time is governed by the occurrence of physical events, at possibly random time intervals. Electrical power systems are an example of hybrid systems which comprised interactions between discrete and continuous dynamics. In this paper, some discrete event phenimena which can be found in electrical power systems are investigated. In a proposed to improve the security level of a power transmission network. Simulation results show thet DES-based supervisory controllers are appropriate solutions to improve securiti level in power systems.
