چکیده:

Larege-scale constructions including dreding operations may have a significant impact on the environment and the adjacent communities, Thereform, it is imperative thet planning and implemention of all relevant meeasures be carefully taken care of. An integrated approach incliding the interests of all involved partners is highly recommended in order to achieve sustainable solutions. This includes effective planning, involvement of all participants at an early stage, consensus on major items both from the constructor and the surrounding community. With regard to the coastal environment, the flliwing topics should be contemplated and elaborated on and finally included in an environmantal impact assessment (EIA), taking into considerations the various aspects of a large scale construction in a coastal environment:
– Direct impact on the physical environment
– Direct impact on the ecology
– Precautionary principles
– Mitigation measures
