In this paper the brushless exciter concept is analyzed. As a general rule, the synchronous machines have been emulated according to the d-qaxis theory. The exciter system has been illustrated by dynamic blocks with non-linear characteristic curves, which represent the behavior of
machine terminal well, but are insufficient for representing the behavior of the internal stressing for the exciter system. It was not possible to specify the stressing of the several parts of the excitation system accurately. The main focus of this article develops the structure of a model consisting of the generator, the main exciter, and the auxiliary exciter as well as diodes and thyristors in the exciter system.
