The present study investigated the effects of 1-adrenoceptors and angiotensinergicsystem on water intake in adalt male rats. Intracerebroventricular ( i.c.v.) injections werecarried out in all experiments after 24-h. deprivation of water. After deprivation, the volum ofconsumed water was measured for 1 h. Administration of losartan, the angiotensin II (ANGII) antagonist (45 g/rat), phenylephrine, 1-adrenergic agonist ( 0.5 g/rat) decreased waterintake, while prazosin, 1-adrenergic antagonist ( 0.25, 0.5 g/rat), increased water intake inisolated rats. Exitatory of water intake by prazosine and attenuate the inhibitory effect oflosartane. on the other hand the addittion of phenylephrine and decreased the inhibitoryresponse of losartan.It is concluded that angiotensinergic and 1-adrenergic system have a close interaction inwater intake mechanisms.
