چکیده:

Hot deformation behaviour of extruded Al-5vol% Al2O3 nanocomposite was investigated at temperature ranges of 350 to 450 ºC and strain rates of 5.5 x 10-4 to 10-1 s-1 and compared with monolithic (unreinforced) aluminium billet. Both extruded materials exhibited work-softening during hot deformation. An analysis of the flow stress dependence on strain rate and temperature gave activation energy of 157 and 80 kJ/mol for the nanocomposite and monolithic Al, respectively. TEM investigation proved that dynamic recrystalization of the aluminium matrix is the operative mechanism on observing the work-softening behaviour
