In this study, effects of Ti and C additions and cooling rates on the magnetic properties and nanostructure of as-spun ribbons have been investigated. As-spun Nd9.4Pr0.6FebalCo6B6Ga0.5TixCx (x=0, 3, 4.5 and 6) nanocomposites were prepared by melt-spinning method. The as-spun ribbons were found to consist of Nd2Fe14B, α-Fe and/or amorphous phases related to Ti and C concentration levels. The amount of amorphous phase increases by the increase of Ti and C content of the samples. Experimental results indicate that Ti and C additions enhance the glass forming ability of the alloy, allowing for a wider window process to produce homogeneous nanoscale materials with optimized magnetic properties.
