چکیده:

The purpose of this paper is investigation of the electrical performance and harmonic distortion introduced by the compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) to the electric power system. In order to do this, a detailed performance analysis in the most common electronic ballasts for CFLs is
presented. The results of some measurements on CFLs are also shown as following: voltage. current, power factor, crest factor,, THD. ballast efficiency and etc. in order to obtain the functional relationships between electrical and illumination parameters versus voltage for energy saving
lamps, some tests were conducted. These tests consisted of varying the applied voltage from base voltage (230 volts) down to 75% of base and up to 15% above base in incremental steps. In this case, the electrical parameters were measured at each step of the voltage traverse. The
illumination characteristics were also recorded that are presented in this paper.
