In this paper, the electrochemical behavior of polypyrrole nanowire modified electrode (PPyNME) in presence of ascorbic acid (AA) was investigated. The PPyNME was prepared by potentiostatic electropolymerization at 0.8 V vs. the Ag/AgCl reference electrode for a required time. The experiment’s results show that the PPyNME has obvious electrocatalytic effect toward AA oxidation. The effect of scan rate and pH of solution on oxidation of AA were studied utilizing cyclic voltammetric technique. The catalytic peak currents obtained from differential pulse voltammetry increased linearly with increasing AA concentrations in the range of 7.5×۱۰-۵ to 1.0×۱۰-۲ M with a detection limit of 2.4×۱۰-۵ (s/n = 3).
