Gold nanowires are used in fields such as electronics, spectroscopic probes and sensors. A number of different methods for producing gold nanowires have reported such as electroless deposition, microwave synthesis and lithography. In most cases, these techniques do not allow the control of crystallographic properties [1]. Since the electrical, thermal and mechanical properties of wires depend strongly on their crystallographic and morphological characteristics, further synthesis techniques are needed to fabricate nanowires with well-controlled crystallinity. The template method is suitable for this purpose [2]. In this paper, electrodeposition of gold nanowires is investigated in cyanide baths in pores of polycarbonate template (PCT). Voltammetry and current transient techniques are used to study the electrodeposition mechanism. The deposits are characterized by different techniques such as SEM, XRD and EDX
