چکیده:

Objective: Anaesthetics in fishes are used to decrease stress and movement at the time of surgery, diagnosis, transportation and controlling them. Carnations powder is one of the chemical materials which can be used as an anaesthetic and tranqulizer. This material has a strong effect in anaesthesia. It is absorbed by gills and causes the connection cutting of central nerve system(CNS) temporarily that leads to unconsciousness.
Method & Materials: In this investigation, different doses of this drug was used to evaluate these effects. Number of 40 fishes were divided randomly to 4 groups of each with 10 fishes at the same situations and exposed them in bath condition of carnations powder with this doses:50, 100, 150, 200 PPM. After 15 minutes fishes brought to recovery tank.
Results & Conclusion: This study showed that the concentration of 50 and 150 PPM have sedative effects and swimming activity becomes slow and fish are calm or in a quiet manner after freedom. The concentration of 150 and 200 PPM lead to unconciousness. The difference was in the time of recovery that was longer in 200 PPM group. Also 2 fish died in this group. So, this research showed that carnations powder at doses of (50,100) PPM can be used as sedative and (150, 200) PPM doses are suitable for anaesthesia.
