چکیده:

Rigid spherical particles in different size distributions randomly packed in a confined space using a parallel algorithm. Mersenne Twister algorithm was used to generate pseudorandom numbers for particles’ initial coordination. Packing behaviour and reproducibility of packing factor of particles with log-normal size distribution and mono-sized particles have been compared. Also, the effects of container size on regional packing density of particles and wall effect on packing and symmetry of packed structure have been investigated. The results confirm that particles in lognormal particle size distribution have better packing but obtained results have less reproducibility than mono-sized particles. Also, particles in log-normalsize distribution have uniform density and higher local density regions.
