چکیده:

Radical polymerization of NVP (N-vinylpyrrolidone) solution for producing different grades of PVP (poly vinylpyrrolidone) is done many years ago. In this way many solvents and initiators are performed. Low molecular weight Polymerization of NVP in aqueous solution with Hydrogen peroxide as initiator is also done but producing linear polymers with high molecular weight of over 106, is not performed. Due to usage of PVP in cosmetic and pharmacopeias industries, and also toxicity of NVP, the residualamount of monomer in final solution according to USP or BP
standards should be less than 10ppm in dried powder and with respect to long polymers chains at the end of the reaction, reduction in residual monomers is difficult. Hence we checked and examined various involving parameters such as temperature, initiator quantity, PH, catalyzer for initiation step, mixing mode, solution concentration, etc. to find best procedure of initiation, propagation and termination steps for radical polymerization of NVP in aqueous solution by H2O2 to produce high molecular weight polymer with reduced residual monomer.
