Turbulent flow forced convection heat transfer of γ-Al2O3/water nanofluid inside a circular tube has been investigated experimentally. An experimental set up is built to investigate convective heat transfer and flow features of the nanofluid in a tube. This study aim to investigate the effects of the volume fraction of suspended nanoparticles and the Reynolds number on the heat transfer coefficient and friction factor of the sample nanofluids. Results indicate that addition of small amounts of nanoparticles to the base fluid shows a discernible effect on heat transfer coefficients. Increasing the concentration of nanoparticles does not show much effect on heat transfer enhancement. This is in contrast with what has been observed for laminar flow of nanofluids.
