In the present study a method for fabrication of tri-modal aluminum based composite with micro and nano size SiC particles as reinforcements is presented and their mechanical properties is inspected. Producing aluminum based composite with micro and nano size SiC particles is performed by wet attrition of a suspension solution that consists of appropriate surfactant to stable the particles in the solution and optimize the dispersion of nano and micro size particles in aluminum matrix. After drying the mixtures, the mixed powder was cold compacted to produce billets for subsequent extrusion process. Conventional hot extrusion process with high extrusion ratio was used to produce dense composite rods.Measuring the densities of the rods shows that almost 99 percentages of the porosities were omitted. Mechanical properties of the produced composites were measured by means of tensile tests. The results show well improved tensile strength, and reasonable ductility.
