In this paper a comparison is attempted between theory and measurement concerning the free hydraulic jump in inclined (angle φ) rectangular open channels. The one – dimensional equation for the jump is presented and some older measurements by the author as well. These measurements concern the area A under the mean free surface jump profile, the corresponding weight W and its K correction factor, the length of the jump and the directly measured conjugate depths ratio, δe. A and K are introduced in the one-dimensional jump equation to support it. This equation is solved to give the final conjugate depths ratio tf δ based on theory and Atf, Ktf. δe and tf δ are close between them for small angles φ and Froude numbers Fr1 , while they increasingly deviate for large angles φ and Froude numbers.
