A simple method has been demonstrated to synthesis of silver nanoparticles on the surface of the cellulose fibers. The preparation of the cellulose Ag-loaded textile was carried out by UV surface activation followed by chemical reduction of silver nitrate. Cellulose fibers have Aldehyde agents that can reduce the Ag from Ag ions. Although Aldehyde agents in cotton fiber are not easily available, by using of UV irradiation we activate this agent on cotton fiber surface. Using different irradiation power and time, various concentration of precursor solution, different sizes of silver nanoparticles have been achieved. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray photo-electron microscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) are used to characterize the silver nanoparticles.
