چکیده:

This paper describes a new method for separation, identification and quantification of dissolved hydrogen
sulfide in the exported crude oil using porapak-Q zeolites in gas chromatography column. Measurement of
dissolved hydrogen sulfide concentration is one of the most important parameters to price assessment of the
exported crude oil. Some traditional methods (e.g. Iodimeteric) have been used for quantification of dissolved
hydrogen sulfide concentration in oil industry. Gas chromatography seems to be a simple and accurate
method for these complex solutions and consequently, headspace technique can prevent from those heavy
compound entrances to gas chromatograph column. Therefore, in this study, headspace gas chromatography
technique has been recommended as a practical and accurate method for hydrogen sulfide quantification in
the exported crude oil. Results show that polar zeolites like porapak-Q have suitable separation efficiency for
natural gas components containing hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide.
