Nucleate boiling has been utilized extensively in industries because it is one of the most efficient modes of heat transfer. The reason for this is that nucleate boiling is capable of transferring amounts of energy many times greater than those transferred by convection or conduction. In this investigation, a large number of experiments were performed to determine nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficients of water/diethanolamine (DEA) binary solutions. Based on the measured data, effects of the physical properties like surface tension and viscosity of mixtures on nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficients and bubble dynamics (bubble departure diameter and bubble frequency) have also been discussed. Meanwhile, some photographs have also been prepared which can guide and illustrate the behaviors of bubbles near the heat transfer surface. It would be shown that bubble dynamics has strong influence on the heat transfer performance. The larger bubbles and higher frequency cause heat transferenhancement.
