Carbon nanotubes can be divided into two groups: SWNT and MWNT. Synthesis methods have included: arc discharge, laser vaporization, and catalyst chemical vapor deposition methods (CCVD) [1]. The CCVD methods thus seems to be more adapted for high purity, high yield, large-scale production at lower cost , selective growth, and vertical alignment [2]. At CCVD method the hydrocarbon gas or CO is let into the furnace and carbon deposition occurs by catalytic decomposition of the hydrocarbon molecules (CH4, C2H4, ethanol, aromatic gases benzene and toluene) on the metal nanoparticles by temperatures ranging roughly from 500 to 1200 oC [3]. The ability of a catalyst metals such as iron, cobalt and nickel, to dissociate hydrocarbon or CO molecules (at its surface) is linked to its electronic structure. We here show how high diameter MWNTs can alternatively be easily grown from Fe catalyst deposited on quartz substrate. The simple distributed method here presented is very versatile, economical, and significantly simplifies the catalyst preparation procedures for CCVD processes
