α-, β-, γ-, and δ-Mn02 nanostructures have been successfully prepared by a common hydrothermal method based on the redox reactions of Mn04- and/or Mn2+. And the effect of varying the hydrothermal time to synthesize MnO2 nanostructures was investigated along with their influence on structural, morphological and electrochemical properties in supercapacitor electrode materials. XRD and SEM studies, revealed a variety of structures ranging from nanostructured surface with a distinct platelike morphology to nanorods depending upon the hydrothermal reaction time: increasing the amount of individual nanorods in the materials prepared with longer hydrothermal reaction. Electrochemical properties studied by cyclic voltammetery that capacitance values were in the range 72-168 F/g depending upon synthesis conditions. BET studies showed that the surface area of synthesized α-Mn02 nanorodes varied from 100 to 164 m2/g.
