TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared in acidic solution (pH 1.8). Glass fibers with an epoxy polymer coating were deposited by TiO2 in the solution. Adsorption of the nanoparticles on the surface of glass fibers was studied using X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). It has been shown that TiO2 nanoparticles can be readily adsorbed on the epoxy groups, while, if the fibers are pre-heated at 500°C, a considerable reduction takes place to the adsorption of nanoparticles. This was attributed to the removal of epoxy groups of the polymer from the surface by pre-heating of the substrate, as evidenced by XPS data.
