چکیده:

The electric power demand is increasing at a rate exceeding forecasts considered for planning the electric power networks in many countries especially in the third world developing countries. Consequently high voltage overhead lines, being the backbone of the power systems, experience operational problems such as overloading, voltage drop and power losses in addition to typical aging problems.
To deal with this situation electricity authorities need either to construct new transmission lines, which involves high investment costs and right of way problems or target improving transmition capacity and performance of old lines.
The Egyptian electricity Transmission Company has started in the late nineties rehabilitation studies and actions for the old high voltage Overhead transmission lines. In this paper 1 expose briefly my experience in the field of rehabilitation studies of the old transnission lines in the Delta region .A case study for SANDOUB/Mit EI Sarem 66 KV OHTL will be presented in details as an example of similar work implemented for about 500 Km of 66 KV OHTLs in Delta Zone.
